An independent eye, with operator judgement.
Strategy, cybersecurity advisory, digital health, and independent ICT program and project reviews, for executives and boards who need the unvarnished picture and a costed path through it.
How I work
Every engagement is led by me. You are not handed to a bench of juniors, and the person who scopes the work is the person who does it.
That is the point of a senior-led practice, and why I take on only a limited number of engagements at any one time.
Most engagements start the same way: a 30-minute discovery call. No deck. No pitch. Just a conversation to understand what you are facing and whether I am the right person to help. If I am not, I will say so and point you toward someone who is.
From there, the shape of the engagement follows the problem. That may be a focused independent review measured in weeks, an executive coaching relationship measured in months, a facilitated leadership session built on pre-interviews, or an interim CIO or CDO mandate while you secure a permanent appointment.
Because every engagement is delivered personally, clients are investing in experienced judgement and independent advice, not the overheads of a large consulting firm.
Who this is for
Boards and executives in health, government, and defence who are carrying genuine accountability. That may be a stalled program, a cyber risk the board cannot see clearly, a transformation generating more friction than progress, or the particular isolation that comes with the most senior leadership roles.
Who this is not for
Organisations looking for a large delivery team, a rubber-stamp review, or a report that will sit on a shelf. I work with leaders who want a straight answer and are prepared to act on it.
Commitment and review
Engagements range from a single focused review to multi-month advisory and coaching relationships. We agree scope, outcomes, and investment before any work begins. For longer engagements, we also agree a structured review point so that we can continue, conclude, or change focus based on evidence and results, not inertia.
Three ways into the work
Senior-led, always. Pick the entry point that fits where you are.
Independent program & project reviews
Independent scrutiny of a program tracking red. Findings traced to evidence, recommendations costed and sequenced, and a board briefing that answers the hard questions in the room.
Program readiness assessments
Before you commit to a major digital transformation, EMR or otherwise, an honest assessment of whether your infrastructure, data, people and governance are actually ready. The costs that sink these programs surface early, not at go-live.
Try the Pre-Mortem gadgetInterim executive mandates
When the accountability has to be held now, not advised on, I can step in as an interim CIO or CDO on a defined, time-boxed basis: a gap between permanent hires, or a program that needs an experienced operator at the wheel.
What clients bring to this engagement
- A program tracking red, and a board that suspects the dimensions it can't see are worse.
- A cyber posture nobody can vouch for, assurance reports that reassure without informing.
- A digital strategy that reads well and lands nowhere, ambition without sequencing or owners.
- A decision too big to get wrong, vendor selection, EMR investment, restructure, needing independent scrutiny before signature.
The engagement, step by step
Senior-led, always. There is no bench of juniors, you work directly with me.
Define the real question
One or two sessions to strip the ask to what the board actually needs answered.
Go where the truth is
Interviews from chair to analyst, documents, delivery data. Every finding traced to evidence.
The unvarnished picture
Findings ranked, recommendations costed and sequenced. Hard conversations early, not last.
Stay until it sticks
Board presentation, executive support through the reset. No drive-by reports.
Deliverables, not just advice
- A written report your board can act on. Findings ranked by consequence, each traced to evidence, with recommendations costed and sequenced.
- A briefing, not just a document. Presentation to your board or executive, with the hard questions answered in the room.
- A 90-day action plan. Owners, milestones and the first three decisions, so momentum survives the meeting.
